Change Perspectives: Choose to Glorify God in Everything You Do
Perspectives change dramatically when we approach life with the intention to glorify God in everything we do.
What happens when we choose convenience over patience in our spiritual walk? In this soul-stirring episode, we dive deep into the transformative power of patience and how it reshapes our perspectives on every area of our lives from family dynamics to fitness goals.
By sharing my own struggles with impatience and how God continues to answer my prayers for more patience in unexpected ways, I had to practice what I preach – trusting God's timing rather than forcing my own agenda. A seemingly small challenge revealed a profound truth: our human tendencies toward control and impatience often mask a deeper issue of not fully trusting God's sovereignty.
This experience frames a deeper exploration of how our perspectives transform when we commit to glorifying God in everything we do— from everyday decisions to parenting or to fitness goals. See how our relationship with fitness and nutrition shifts dramatically when we view our bodies as temples rather than projects to make "summertime fine."
Most powerfully, we confront the uncomfortable truth that convenience often hides in our sinful nature. Like Jonah fleeing God's call or the Israelites repeatedly choosing rebellion, we too gravitate toward personal comfort over divine obedience. Yet Jesus shows us a better way – even as he prayed for the cup of suffering to pass from him, he ultimately submitted to the Father's will. This is our invitation too: to decrease in our humanity and allow the Spirit of God to increase, finding freedom in submission rather than convenience.
Ready to shift your perspective and experience the peace that comes from patient trust in God's perfect timing? Listen now, and let's journey together toward a life that glorifies God in everything.

Speaker 1:When I first started podcasting, I have made a commitment to trust God with this podcast through every process because, truthfully, I do not have all the things figured out and I did not know what I was doing, so I was being obedient and starting it. But it's not mine. I'm just here partnering with God, hoping I steward the platform. Well. I say that because I have prayed for God to help me with my patience and for him to reveal areas where I need to have more patience. I know I lack patience and I know it has impacted me on my journey and spiritual growth, so I have been working on it. I have Because, let me just say, waiting on people is not my thing. I'm so impatient in that area. I don't know if this is true for anyone else, but there is something about when you have to go somewhere and you're a family of five maybe this is just me but you tell and work with your family to start getting ready at a certain time, right, just to give you guys enough time for everyone and everything to be done right.
Speaker 1:I'm usually the one who takes the longest, so everyone knows this and everyone gets ready, and once I'm ready, it usually is just about time to go. So once I'm ready, everyone should be ready. But no, not in my household. There is always one of the kids who needs to do something else. Or they didn't put on their outfit we agreed on, or someone has to wash their face or put on lotion or go put on socks, whatever it may be. I mean, they had plenty of time to get ready, right. But now here we are and I'm now waiting when it's time to go. Don't worry, it's not just the kids. My husband has his moments of needing to run back upstairs to grab something too. It happens, and when patience is lacking in me, it bothers me. I've learned that lacking patience, being frustrated and bothered. Not giving grace is not who I want to be. It's not how I'm supposed to respond to God's family and his people. So I'm praying for a shift in patience and I know God heard my prayers because I've been seeing and feeling it. You hear me.
Speaker 1:Another way is the content of this podcast. If you follow or subscribe to the podcast, it's clear that new episodes will be released bi-weekly. Okay, it has worked. It is what I received confirmation on, so I trust God deemed it so. With that said, before recording for the podcast, I always pray for every woman who tunes into the podcast, asking God to reveal to me what may be on the hearts and minds of those women you and I and oftentimes my journey and authentic experiences, along with real life situations around family, health and wellness, healing, grief, mindset, learning to trust God and, of course, sin and repentance, are what's relevant. But I always pray for direction. I don't batch record content. I don't have multiple episodes ready to drop for each month. I share what has been authentically placed on my heart by God. So, in all honesty, this episode should have been released last week, based on the bi-weekly schedule that has been set.
Speaker 1:But when I say I had nothing dropped in my spirit to share. I was confused. I prayed, I asked for guidance, but nothing resonated. I mean I received things here and there but it really just didn't resonate. I mean I could have came on here and share whatever, but I'm sure I would have been moving without the Spirit of God and that would have been a total disservice.
Speaker 1:I found myself scrambling with my thoughts and it began to feel like I was trying to control or force something because I was so adamant about having an episode released on schedule. I was even beginning to think I did something wrong. Like was I being in my word enough? Like am I not doing the things right? I was ready to take full blame for coming up short, but I was reminded.
Speaker 1:I prayed for patience and my commitment to trust God, and two very familiar scriptures quickly came to mind. And that is be still and know that I am God and do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and supplication. With that literally set me free and with that I rested on those scriptures and I had peace. I gave it to God. I was reminded that in learning patience I have to give grace even to myself. I learned that I'm not really in control. God is when I place my trust in him. And, lastly, I learned that God's timing is always better than mine because he makes no mistakes. He already knew the outcome and literally the next day, on Thursday, it was placed on my heart and heavy in my spirit to share with you all what God gave me to share with you today. So I'm grateful. I prayed for patience. I'm thankful for the journey that God is sending me on to lead me towards patience, and I'm thankful for God's grace, as I have been able to see more and more of how having patience and trust in God truly gives peace and produces more joy, and I'm practicing doing more of just that. Can anyone else relate? I hope so. So, with that said, let's get into it.
Speaker 1:Today, perspectives change when, whatever you do, you do it for the glory of God. We see this plainly in first Corinthians. So rather, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. What this is telling us is that every aspect of our lives as Christians has the potential to honor God, even in our daily, mundane tasks and decisions, even the basic things we often overlook as things that would not matter to God. But I challenge you to think differently. For example, our perspectives can change for the glory of God, in how we raise our children.
Speaker 1:Scripture tells us to train up a child in the way he should go, and when he or she is old they will not depart from it. This does not mean there will never be a season where that child won't stumble or fall astray onto a crooked path, but what it is saying is that, as Christian parents, we are to individualize, teach and discipline our children as God's child, whom he has entrusted us to care for, by providing a foundation of godliness and moral standing, to give that child something positive to fall back on when they come back to themselves, on when they come back to themselves. I know for my husband and I having a teenager, a preteen and a seven-year-old. Their ages alone require that we individualize how we teach and discipline them. But even bigger than that, they all have different personalities and gifts from God and, like many of you, as parents, my husband and I have to navigate to help them with their individual strengths and weaknesses, pouring the right values and perspectives. So those lessons will last a lifetime to glorify God.
Speaker 1:Also, I want to touch base on your physical, body and health from a fitness and exercise standpoint. Body and health from a fitness and exercise standpoint. It shows that many of you may need to change your perspective in how you pursue it. So you are in alignment to glorify God. I say this because some of you listening spend so much time talking about wanting or needing to work out but yet and still, each day goes by and you just don't do it. And for those listening who are currently working out shout out to my gym girlies. I want to remind you, sis, that it is more than just getting summertime fine so you can be outside this summer. I'm not judging you, sis, because I've been on a summertime fine journey many seasons before giving my life to Christ. Okay, this is not to say that you can't be physically fit and have a fit body and outward appearance.
Speaker 1:But first, timothy four tells us for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come. But what does this mean, you may ask? Both actually lead to action. But here we see how physical training and exercise is of some importance, because we have to have strength in order to care for our bodies and to be able to function daily, of course, but being summertime fine is less important than a godly life, and the reason is that godliness is more important due to its eternal value. Yes, caring for your physical body is a good thing and we all should be doing it, if you change the perspective of doing it as a gift from God, stewarding your body well because it is a temple and the indwelling place of the Holy Spirit, instead of you glorifying selfish ambitions or evil intent, but rather doing it all for the glory of God.
Speaker 1:The same thing applies to the things you eat and put in your body. I remind you, sis, that no foods are unclean or of limits, as I tell my clients, because there is room for all foods in moderation is room for all foods in moderation. Alcohol has use, but can be abused. In drunkenness, food is good, but can be abused in gluttony. Sexuality is good, but it can be abused if practiced outside of godly marriage. Everything God has made can be used for some good and proper purpose and in doing so, you nourish your body with foods that keep your conscious free from guilt, shame, overindulgences, because you have learned to do it in honor of God, because he has provided your daily bread, and you will eventually start to desire to change the unhealthy habits surrounding your eating habits and nutrition, all as you glorify God.
Speaker 1:Hear me, see, culture and society wants us to believe the idea that our body and our ways is permitted to having everything it craves, rather it be food, financial gain, sexual or lustful acts, physical transformation, status you name it. But what this really points out is how our human desires are influenced and tainted with sin, which is why you see that God is not glorified in the things you eat, drink or what you do. What I have learned is that you can only do this when you come to truly know Jesus and becoming more like Jesus in the process of sanctification. This does not mean you miss out on a life full of joy and peace and abundance, because we know that in Jesus we have life abundantly and we lack nothing. John 15, 11,. Jesus says these things I have spoken to you that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be full. Don't allow the sinful patterns of this world convince you that you're missing out on the things that really don't matter. They are fleeting.
Speaker 1:In Matthew 23, jesus reminds us not to be like the hypocritical Pharisees and scribes. He says for you, clean the outside of the cup and the plate, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence, referencing that your outward appearance to the world looks good, you look like you have it all together. You come across as all holy and righteous, but on the inside that thing is filthy. No matter how clean you might look, the hardware is filthy in all the ways that matter, using their appearance of religion as a cover-up for their sin. And what we can't see is that on the inside there's really no humility or reverence for God. There is no truth in seeking to reject your own sinful attitudes and ideas. You're using religion to serve yourself in your own desires and not to glorify God. Let me just say this it is not to condemn anybody, because we all have done it, I have done it. But if the conviction is real, there is hope. Lean into that hope and allow Jesus to transform and change you, beginning with the inside.
Speaker 1:The journey to becoming like Christ, the journey of sanctification, is just that it's a journey. It's not an overnight process, and there is no such thing as a quick fix to reach that goal, like that of so many diatrons today. There's no amount of good deeds that can push you forward or allow you to skip ahead in the process. It is an ongoing, lifelong process to become more like Christ as you grow spiritually and transform by God's grace, as you spend time in his presence praying to the Father. 1 Corinthians 1, 30 through 31 explains this well for us, because we cannot take any credit for it, but we must boast and rejoice only in the Lord.
Speaker 1:I want to challenge you to ask yourself this question Are you seeking convenience or patience? You know it's the fruit of the Spirit. Jesus's choice to lay down his life and to be crucified was not out of convenience. That agonizing process took patience, it took faith. It took trust in God more than you and I would ever be willing to take on ourselves. Even his disciples didn't fully understand to what extent that really meant. Why should we think everything in our lives should be convenient or without patience? That's the story of my life y'all. Outpatients, that's the story of my life y'all.
Speaker 1:I see this so often that so many women who say they want to change and live a healthier lifestyle, but they steer away from the actions that actually lead them there Exercise healthy eating habits and choices, because they rather choose convenience and temporary pleasures instead of drinking the cup of patience. I'm not exempt from this. I do it too. We see this in many areas of our lives and the choices we make. But what I'm learning is that oftentimes convenience is in the middle of our sin. I'll say that again Oftentimes convenience is in the middle of our sin, yes, sin.
Speaker 1:We see it throughout scripture that our sinful desires lead us in sinful actions. Unless we crucify the flesh, convenience can't dwell there. Rebellion and the rebellious nature we continue to live in does nothing but lead us further away from Jesus and the calling which God has purposed us for. But the good news is, sis, the Lord's grace is sufficient and the Lord's mercy endures forever. See, just like you and I, there are so many people in the Bible where convenience and personal comfort was in arm's reach and many chose it over God's will. But as we begin to see God for who he is and his character, we begin to see God's sovereignty, his mercy, his grace and how his providence kept them. Is anybody thankful that God kept you? I know I am.
Speaker 1:You may have grew up in church. Your whole life went to vacation, bible school on a regular or you're a PK, by all means. You have firsthand access to all the tools to live a life of purpose and to serve. But you couldn't wait to get away from the church and live your best life for you, sis, I know. See, I skipped all the church going vacation, bible schools, children's church, teen church, all the things I lived life in and of the world as long as I could remember, with a sprinkle of church here and there.
Speaker 1:Okay, it was influenced by life's traumas and experiences I faced growing up. So I was influenced by my environment. Rather it was good or bad. So living a life of convenience with a bit of people pleasing was a recipe I thought would be my life. So of course, I struggled with allowing people to get close to me, which affected friendships. I'd always seek a promotion on a job to feel more adequate, and if not, I'd leave when I got bored and move on to the next one, and if not, I'd leave when I got bored and move on to the next one, always seeking stability and affirmation in things or people. All the distractions around me made it difficult to even hear from God, because I truly thought I was in control of my life in all that I did, all my rebellion, disobedience and sin. I didn't know it then, but I know now that the betrayals, fallen friendships, life's mountains and extended valley seasons were all a part of God's plan and God was using it all for my good.
Speaker 1:Hear me when I say God makes no mistakes. God's timing is always the right time. If you're still in a valley season, feeling stuck and stagnant, distracted and distant from God, serving no one but yourself, god hasn't forgotten about you. God did not make a mistake. He hears your prayers. The compassion of Jesus is evident that he will meet you right where you are. God has been keeping you because he's not done with you yet. He's pruning you to bear much fruit.
Speaker 1:We see people just like you and I throughout the Bible, people who prioritize personal comfort and ease over following God's commands. Jonah disobeyed God to preach repentance to those who, at the time, were the Israelites' worst enemies and, out of convenience, he tried to run as far away from God as he could and the people of Nineveh. And most of all, we can't forget about the Israelites who repeatedly rebelled against God, consistently choosing their own desires and comfort over obeying God and following his guidance which ultimately led them through many periods of hardship and exile. And today, many of us call ourselves Christians, but we're no different. Many of us call ourselves Christians, but we're no different. We've all tried to go the other way when God has called us to something, especially when what he has called us to doesn't make sense to us.
Speaker 1:Like God, you want me to speak and preach the gospel to the people, but I don't articulate or speak well and continuously stumble over my words or sin. Idols and other vices have a hold on you that you find yourself continuously rebelling against God because you don't have a deep enough reverence for him or Jesus. See, I'm even thinking of Jesus, even with all his divinity and deity, the pain and suffering he was going to endure by laying down his life to save the world so that you and I could be here today for the world, including you and I, to live and be reconciled back to God. Jesus had a moment of desiring convenience by asking that the cup he was to drink would be passed from him. In Matthew 26, it says he fell on his face and prayed, saying my father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me Nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will. How convenient would it have been to pass that cup? If it were you or me, I would have prayed that too. But even in Jesus's real human emotions, he still chose to put God's will first and carry out the will of God anyway. Jesus has divine power and may have been able to change the outcome of his suffering, judgment or crucifixion, but his obedience led him to decrease in his humanity, to die to his flesh and allow the Spirit of God to increase so the will of the father could be done. This charge is for you and I today as well.
Speaker 1:Jesus shows us how to have deep reverence for God. In the text, he shows us how to make our requests made known to God. And even if the answer is no or that thorn is still in our side and won't be removed, he shows us how to move in obedience in spite of what it looks like. In doing so, jesus aligned himself with something bigger than just himself. That's what we see throughout scripture People aligning themselves with something bigger than just themselves. And that is what you and I, as women following Christ, are to do as well. It's bigger than just you and I living a life of convenience with no suffering.
Speaker 1:It's not even just about calling yourself a Christian. It's about literally being the hands and feet of Jesus, being the body of Christ, loving others as Christ has loved us, to be more like Jesus, christ himself, so that everything we do, we do it for the glory of God. We can't do it on our own, not in our own strength, but we can with Jesus. Come on Philippians 4.13,. I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me. I'm not even going to hold you and say that changing your perspective in what you eat, drink or whatever you do to do it for the glory of God is easy because, child, it ain't Pray and ask Jesus.
Speaker 1:We read about the agony Jesus experienced in Gethsemane, but the good news is we can hold on to the truth and the fact that Jesus has already obtained the ultimate victory of overcoming the world, and nothing can undo that. Take heart and be glad about it. I don't know about you, but this gives me so much hope that it does not matter what situation I am facing, who has something negative to say about me or what God has called me to. I'm learning more and more each day that if my God is for me, who can be against me. I want to encourage you to not fear people. Don't fear or listen to the enemy, no matter how loud he may try to be. Stand firm and know who and whose you are, because it trumps the enemy every time. I know he is a liar, because that is what he is good at, and I already know his outcome, and that is he is defeated.
Speaker 1:I'm believing God, for me and for you, that no weapon formed against you, your family, your business, your purpose or your calling will be able to prosper. So the devil can do what Clock that T? Isn't that what this new generation is saying these days? Bless them y'all. Hear me, sis. I want you to hear my heart when I say that convenience should not have power over you to change or your perspective, whatever it may be and whatever it may look like, because it does look different for each of us.
Speaker 1:But whatever it is that you do, do it for the glory of God, always, because convenience does not glorify God, it glorifies us. That's it. That's all.
