Embracing Salvation: Transformative Practices Rooted in Spirituality
Can the universal gift of salvation truly transform your life and your health and wellness journey? On this episode of Fit For Her Journey, I share my personal revelations rooted in Romans 10, delving into how the freely given gift of salvation is accessible to all. We talk about the unique struggles faced by African-American women, particularly moms, in prioritizing their health. I open up about my own experiences with overcoming trauma, rejection, and pride, and how Jesus became the ultimate answer to these challenges, offering a beacon of hope and guidance.
But we don't stop there. We also explore the profound impact of self-control, an essential fruit of the Spirit, on our daily lives. From achieving mindful habits like regular exercise and balanced nutrition to setting clear goals, we discuss practical tips for letting faith guide our health and wellness journeys. With heartfelt encouragement, I urge every listener to surrender to God’s strength, embrace salvation, and break the generational cycles of poor health. We wrap up with a powerful prayer, invoking God’s strength and guidance for every listener, ensuring you leave uplifted and ready to make transformative changes in your life.

You are now listening to the Fit for Her Journey podcast with Allie Gibbs. Hey, everyone, welcome to Fit for Her Journey, where we have a bit of church, a bit of life, health and wellness, and a lot of the word, God's word. I have been praying yall and God has been speaking to my heart. It's like he has been flooding me with downloads and I'm just praying he continues to keep me because I feel as though I can't keep up. Has anyone ever felt like that? I mean, I could be driving, cooking, working out or even in the shower and I will get a revelation or download and I'm like, oh Lord, please keep my mind so I can write it down when my hands are free. But I have been praying and I feel God has led me to this point of the beginning when it comes to our salvation. See, he has reminded me that salvation is for everyone and, as simple as that may sound, many of us still fall short of believing that salvation is for everyone.
Allie Gibbs:I was in the shower I believe it was the very next day after having this conversation with my husband, and as I was praying, I heard it clear as day y'all. The response that I received was Jesus, I'm the answer, I'm the way. The answer was in Jesus. That revelation was so profound to me and I asked God to show me more, to show me, reveal to me, because I don't know how to sell. Jesus, don't laugh y'all. In fact, I don't know how to sell anything because I am not a salesperson. I never believed I was a salesperson and I never had a desire to do so, so I firmly believe that it is not my calling, but even with that, I continued praying and reading the word and I asked God to reveal to me how this was so. How can I tie this in together? How can I help women see that Jesus is the answer when I tell you God has not fallen short. His word never returns void. He has revealed so much on the fruit of the spirit in accepting Jesus. And so I say all that to say that my assignment for today comes from Romans 10.
Allie Gibbs:As God showed me this scripture, it was clear that the beginning to seeing Jesus and how we think, how we move, hear and speak, we must go back to the beginning and accept our salvation. Accepting our salvation is the key to helping us to see Jesus more clearly in the things that we do in our day-to-day. And with that, we must understand that salvation is for everyone. It's freely given to us by God. We can't claim it by working for it or boast about it by anything we have done.
Allie Gibbs:As humans, we are sinful. We are sinful in nature. Now, I don't want to put anything on any of y'all, but I know I have a past, but God has chose me anyway. Yes, I have experienced trauma, rejection, abandonment, god knows. I've experienced betrayal, lack of self-worth and self-control loss, and I have even been prideful yet, and still, god chose me anyway. We are made right with God through accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior.
Allie Gibbs:Jesus has paid the price for our sins in full. He has already accomplished the purpose of fully being man and divine, bearing the cross for our sins, dying and being resurrected and conquering all things, as in Romans 10: 4, Paul writes, for Christ has already accomplished the purpose for which the law has given. As a result, all who believe in him are made right with God. There's nobody greater y'all. I have to say that again. There is nobody greater than Jesus. There's no name greater. Name someone else? Go for it. I'll wait, matter of fact. No, I won't, not really. I have more to share with y'all.
Allie Gibbs:What I have found was we do not have to be perfect or have to perform in order to receive salvation from the Lord. See, salvation is for everyone. God placed it in my heart to share this and to share it boldly. Sis, I don't know who you are, but God does. This is for you, and he sent me here to remind you and to share this word with you, taking it back to the beginning regarding salvation. In Romans 10: 9,. It reminds us that by confessing with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believing in our heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Yes, your faith. By your faith you are saved and deemed justified. Everyone who calls on the name of Jesus will be saved. So, sis, I encourage you to call on him when we think about prioritizing our health, or health and wellness as a whole.
Allie Gibbs:Some may say they want or need to exercise more to reach better health, eat healthier and have better habits. But it's more than just speaking it. Do you believe it? Do you speak it and believe it to be so? Have you allowed your faith to move you into position to do it? When you are one with Christ, you have access to the Holy Spirit. Did you know that? Did you know that the Holy Spirit resides within you and there is so much fruit that comes from the Spirit? Because, as humans, we have selfish motives and desires that do not align with the will and purpose of God and what he has for us. We may think that we can do it all in our own strength, in our own might. You know what we may just do?
Allie Gibbs:A deep dive on the fruit of the spirit in another episode, because let me tell y'all it's a whole blessing. In Galatians 5: 22 through 23,. It reads but the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. In context, here in Galatians, paul is referring to living by the power of the Spirit and allowing the Holy Spirit to be our guide. Why? Because we can be misled by the sinful nature that our human nature craves and desires. That is actually an opposite of carrying out good intentions. But I want to speak about the fruit of the Spirit, on self-control, and although self-control can be applied to so many areas in our lives, we must remain in close union with Jesus and allow the Holy Spirit to work within us daily.
Allie Gibbs:Self-control allows you to focus on mindful habits and practices, especially where you desire change, such as if you're trying to reach a weight loss goal, if you're trying to reach a promotion on your job, if you're trying to move into the next level of your lifestyle. So when we look at it from a place and space of health and wellness, you can see self-control in areas such as exercising regularly, eating foods that create balance and fuels your body, mind and health. In other areas, such as setting goals, allowing yourself space to disconnect from social environments and media, for peace, to connect and deepen your relationship with God, for spiritual growth, allow yourself to experience quality rest and mental clarity, overcoming immediate desires and impulse decision making on spending habits, saving habits, productivity whatever it is for you that you're trying to seek self-control over you name it spouses, employer or employee, and especially as moms, doing all the things. We need the fruit of the Spirit daily, leading us in every part of our lives. Can we say Amen to that? Because we need to invite the Holy Spirit into our day daily.
Allie Gibbs:So when I began preparing for this episode and God revealed to me that salvation is for everyone and connecting the revelation that Jesus is the answer to helping women create self-transformative habits for overall health and wellness, it became clear that Jesus is the way, the truth and the light in all things concerning us. Our health and wellness journey is not meant to just have a hot girl summer body or to be in a vicious cycle of dieting because we're so desperately seeking to reach a weight loss goal or fail at another New Year's resolution goal in our own might and strength, but instead my goal is to help as many women as I can become the woman God divinely created and purposed them to be, helping them to see and break generational cycles of poor health and disease from themselves and their families, knowing that they can do all things through Christ, who strengthens them. God's word never returns void. So, yes, you can create and sustain self-transformative habits of faith, prioritizing your health, nourishing and exercising your body by the power of the Spirit, and reach the life goals you have prayed for If you get out of your own way, surrender it to God and just believe. Believe that you can be victorious in this. Romans 10: 14 through 15 says how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? As I just said, god's word never returns void. And here we are.
Allie Gibbs:Well, sisters, I want you to know that I did not always know that salvation was free for me. I didn't know it was for me. I was under the impression that who I was at the time was not useful by God. I felt God had me, but I didn't fully know what it meant because I had so much trauma, pain, rejection built up on the inside of me that, although I was seen as the strong friend or family member, I knew something was missing. I was flat out afraid of what it would look like if I gave my life to Jesus, if I accepted salvation. Plus, I wanted to be outside doing all of the things. Okay, I wasn't ready to be holy, as some may say, but Jesus made a way and he's still making a way.
Allie Gibbs:And although I went to church here and there, I often felt lost and confused until I began to seek Jesus and he met me where I was. I began to see that he was not out to condemn me, lie to me or harm me, but to save me. He was meant to be my light, my truth, into my adult years, when I realized salvation is a free gift to me, it's free to you, salvation is for everyone, it's not complicated and the beautiful part of it is all we have to do is sincerely believe in our hearts and speak it with our mouth that Jesus is our risen Lord and Savior and we will be saved. I would be doing a disservice to God if I were not obedient in sharing what he has placed on my heart today, and that is Jesus. I may not be able to sell you Jesus, but I can tell you about Jesus and I'm sharing anyway, even when I have my moments of doubt, fear, anxiety and even imposter syndrome kicking in. But I know the devil is a liar, my God is sovereign and, above all, and if God be for me and if God be for me, who can be against me? Giving God my yes was life-changing for the greater. Although I don't know who this message is for, he does and I trust him.
Allie Gibbs:Faith comes by hearing, that is, hearing the good news about Jesus. So my prayer for you today is that you make space by pouring out all the thoughts, actions, experiences, misbeliefs and unbelief that you once had and surrender them all to God. In return, I pray that you open your heart to receive the gift of salvation that is freely given to us in the name of Jesus, because God loves us. May you no longer have to walk in shame, fear, doubt or feeling inadequate to make lifestyle changes for your overall health and well-being, accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior, and for understanding and knowing that salvation is for you. It's the key to where you are going in life. May you begin to trust in the Lord and receive new strength, where you won't grow weary or faint, but instead allowing God to order each and every one of your steps by making your cricket path straight. I pray that the Lord blesses and keeps you. May he shine his light upon you, may he give you peace and may every woman under the Until next time, peace, love and blessings.
